JAKAN
The Story.
"Jakan" is a nickname for Jakobsberg, a suburb located 15 km north of central Stockholm. Once home to a big farm and an infamous windmill, today it’s better known as a bustling commuter hub. You can hop on a train and be downtown in 22 minutes.
Other standouts include the Iron Age burial site and a nightclub called Riddar Jakob that’s been amusing generations since the ‘70s. But it’s really the park that supplies the heartbeat of the suburb. Awarded a national architecture prize, Riddarparken is where everybody goes for walks, picnics, football, and spontaneous musical entertainment. It’s also only a five minute walk from where Mikael Persbrandt grew up.
